The ITIL library was recently updated to ITIL 4.

The ITIL 4 updates are significant, and represent a total rethinking and redesign of the ITIL best practices.

Some of the significant new changes that have been introduced with ITIL 4 include:

  • A service value system that ties the major components of ITIL together
  • A set of easy-to-use guiding principles which answer common questions that organizations face when applying ITIL
  • A well-defined concept of a service value chain that drives the creation of value for service providers
  • A set of practices, grouped in terms of general management, service management and technical management focus areas
  • An overall stronger approach to governance

These are important changes to the ITIL library that will help ensure organizations continue to meet the changing needs of their businesses.

ITIL 4 Foundation is an introductory class that provides an initial introduction to ITIL concepts, business value and other key components.

In this 2-day course participants receive an introduction to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library version 4, commonly known as ITIL® 4. ITIL 4 provides a set of guiding principles and best practices that are commonly used by organizations around the world to generate value and deliver high-quality and cost-effective services to consumers and customers. In this class participants are introduced to ITIL 4 concepts and practices and they learn how organizations can use this information to conduct business activities more efficiently and effectively. Upon completion of this course, participants will be qualified to attend more advanced ITIL 4 courses that provide more detailed information about ITIL 4 concepts and practice and how they can help your organization.

Polestar Simulation

One of our most popular courses is the Polestar simulation. Polestar is a 1-day hands-on (non lecture) course where participants are assigned various service management roles and given the responsibility of keeping a fictional business running profitably. Feedback about performance and suggestions for improvement are given to participants throughout the session and formally at the end of the Polestar course.

Applied Service Management Courses

Cognixia offers a unique line of applied service management courses that describe how to apply ITIL best practices to common situations that many organizations face. These classes are non-certification and are intended for students to learn and apply techniques that can be directly used in their organization.

ITIL v3 Foundation

ITIL v3 Foundation is an introductory class that provides an initial introduction to the ITIL v3 service lifecycle, key concepts, business value and important processes and functions.

In the ITIL® Foundation course, participants will receive an introduction to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library, commonly known as ITIL. ITIL v3 Intermediate

ITIL v3 classes and certifications are still available.

The ITIL v3 Intermediate courses provide in-depth detail on how to apply different parts of the ITIL v3 best practices. The ITIL v3 Intermediate courses include:

ITIL v3 Expert

ITIL v3 classes and certifications are still available.

The ITIL Expert credential is highly valued in the job market. Participants who earn this credential can expect to be deeply involved in leading service management projects.

With the recent update to ITIL 4, there are advantages for those who are ITIL Experts in terms of transitioning to the new high level credentials when they are released later in 2019.

Those who wish to become ITIL Experts must earn a minimum of 17 credits by completing courses and passing certification exams at the ITIL Foundation and ITIL Intermediate levels. Once an individual has earned 17 credits they are eligible to take the Managing Across the Lifecycle Course.

Completion of Managing Across the Lifecycle and successfully passing the associated exam deems the individual an ITIL Expert.
